Good Friday Experience

Project Year: 2026
Project Type: Short-Form Video Series
Project Role: Ideation, Producer
Project Client: Cross Point Church

PROJECT OVERVIEW

In 2026, I set out to reimagine how people experience Good Friday in a digital world. Rather than asking people to simply attend a service or consume content after the fact, the vision was to invite them to walk with Jesus through the final hours of His earthly life, experiencing the events of Good Friday as they unfolded in real time.

Stations of the Cross is an eight part short-form video series released from Maundy Thursday night through Good Friday, each episode anchored to the biblical timeline of Jesus’ journey to the cross.

Combining Scripture, pastoral reflection, symbolic imagery, and practical discipleship, every station explores a defining moment in Christ’s suffering while inviting viewers to examine their own hearts. Through themes of surrender, truth, forgiveness, suffering, waiting, and hope, the series helps people discover that the story of the cross is not simply something to remember, but a journey that continues to shape our lives today.

At the heart of the project is a desire to disciple people where they already are; on their phones, in the quiet moments between work, school, and family life. By releasing each station at the corresponding hour of Jesus’ final day, the series creates a shared rhythm of reflection, allowing people to slow down, engage deeply with Scripture, and prepare their hearts for the hope of Easter. More than a collection of videos, Stations of the Cross becomes a digital devotional experience that helps people see themselves in Jesus’ story and invites them to respond with greater trust, surrender, and faith.

EIGHT STATIONS OF THE CROSS

PROJECT REFLECTIONS

WHAT WENT WELL?

  • Distinctive concept – Releasing each station in real time transformed Good Friday from a single moment of content into a shared devotional journey that encouraged people to return throughout the day.

  • Strong creative execution – The black-and-white aesthetic, symbolic objects, and restrained visual style gave the series a reverence and emotional weight that reflected the significance of Good Friday.

  • Clear discipleship focus – Each video moved beyond retelling Scripture to invite viewers into personal reflection and practical application, making the content spiritually formative rather than simply informative.

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT

  • Comprehensive marketing – This was a project built for an internal audience, but the strength of the content makes me realise we could have marketed this wider and grown the audience significantly.

  • More audience interaction – Providing simple ways for viewers to respond, reflect, or prepare for the next station could have deepened engagement throughout the day.

  • Broader ecosystem – Supporting the series with devotionals, web content, or family discussion resources would have extended its impact beyond social media.

1% BETTER:

  • In hindsight I wish we had allowed the set /gallery space to subtly change throughout the day, visually reflecting the progression toward the cross.
